Schuhbecks Orlando

For those of you who are not familiar with Alfons Schuhbeck – he is a Michelin Star Chef from Germany and has a huge influence on German cuisine. In Munich you will find many different locations that he owns like Schuhbecks Orlando, Schuhbecks fine dining, Schuhbecks Bar, Eis Café, his Shop and even at the new Terminal at Munich airport he opened a restaurant.

So this time I went to Schuhbecks Orlando that was opened in 1997 in a beautiful historic building on the Platzl in Munichs town center next to the famous Hofbräuhaus (probably the most visited tourist attraction in Munich).

So Schuhbecks Orlando http://www.schubeck.de  the interior reminds you of an amazing Vienna cafe house, it’s very Barock with lots of gold, beautiful chandeliers and wonderful flowers.

The menue is nice, you can find everything under the categories like

  • Appetizers and Salads
  • Soups
  • Mains
  • Pasta, Pizza
  • Desserts

So really simple but with a twist. You can choose between German cuisine, Mediterranean or even get some curry.

I had a FC-Bayern Salad (it’s a famous football team from Munich) with green Salad, cucumber, tomatoes, quinoa, goji, chia seeds, pomegranate, dry figs and grilled prawns. It was really nice as you had different tastes in your mouth: sweet, fresh, salty, crispy so really small explosions.

Friend of mine had Orlando Gröstl, a signature dish with fried eg, potatos, meat ball, sausages, grilled vegetables and some salad. Nice size portion, good seasoned and well presented. As a dessert you also have some nice options, typical German or Eiscreme that’s also has something specials like Mango-Ginger etc.

This restaurant is definitely not overpriced, you can come here and have a nice meal for 2 for 50€ incl drinks or even just stop by for people watching and a glass of wine or so.

Even if the restaurant is well known the service was very nice. The waiter was very funny, with good manners and perfect service.
