Intercontinental Berlin

Intercontinental Hotel belongs to the IHG Group and it’s a big 5 Star Hotel in Berlin. Located next to Tiergarten park and the Zoo central Berlin, this luxury hotel with nearly 600 nicely designed rooms, beautiful Marlene bar, great Hugo’s restaurant with the city view, relaxing Spa facility, gym and amazing breakfast is a good choice for Berlin visit.

I stayed here just for one night. The room I booked was a standard category and as booked in advance the rate was good value for money – 132€ inkl breakfast.

You will reach the hotel from the Tegel Airport in about 20 minutes with a taxi and pay 25€ for the ride. As I came closer to the hotel, I looked a bit disappointed as the building is huge and I rather prefer smaller hotels. But it was just for one night I said to myself. Near the entrance you see a bear with Marlene Dietrich painting on it, the lobby looks very nice, welcoming with nice decor and lots of space.

Check-in was quick and pleasant and after 10 minutes I was in my room already. I was positive surprised by a nice size of the room, with everything you need and a beautiful bathroom with a bathtub and separat WC. The interior of the room is done very thoughtful wth lots of space to sit down or put things somewhere.

We didn’t stayed for dinner at the hotel as there are some good restaurants close by but we came back for a drink in the Marlene Bar that has a wonderful atmosphere, is in my opinion different to other hotel bars, it’s really a nice place that I would go to even without staying here and we spend great time. Unfortunately the bar closes a bit early (for a bar) I think it was midnight or 1 am.

Next day surprises us. We went for a breakfast and it was stunning! The place where they serve it is beautiful and all those food stations! Fisch Station, cheese and meat, Asian with 4 different kinds of dumplings, fried rice and soup, fresh fruits, huge variety of marmelade and bread, all kind of müsli and of course an egg station with a cook where you could offer omlett, eggs Benedict etc. So we spend 2 hours just relaxing and enjoying. It was one of the best hotel breakfast buffets I had.

So, honestly, I would recommend this hotel and next time I maybe have time to try the spa there and let you know all about it.
